Shuttered for over a decade, Hotel Chester had fallen on hard times by the 1990s. David and Suki Mollendor bought the hotel in 1999, rolled up their sleeves and took on a major renovation. An old hotel can be a fickle and demanding mistress yet the Hotel Chester’s rebirth has been a labor of love. The Hotel Chester in Starkville, Mississippi was bought by David and Suki Mollendor in 1999 and is still owned by them as of 2023.
