The marriage was not a happy one and the unfortunate bride was later ridiculed in one of Byron’s poems as ‘Lady Millpond’.Built in the 17th century, the Hall has a colourful history being the venue for the wedding of the romantic poet Lord Byron to Lady Annabella Milburn. Following a £20m transformation it is now tastefully restored and transformed into a luxury hotel and spa of considerable grandeur.Seaham Hall was a large country house built 1791-1792 for Sir Ralph and Lady Judith Milbanke.
