Can you swim in Beaver Brook Watershed?
Beaver Brook Watershed is a fairly easy hike to a gorgeous lake, without traveling far from Denver. There is a wonderful little spot on top of some large boulders on the north side of the lake. The lake is a water source for the community, therefore there is no swimming and you can’t let you dogs in. Beaver Brook Trail is a challenging hiker only trail connecting Clear Creek Canyon Park, Denver Mountain Parks’ Genesee Mountain Park, and Windy Saddle Park. This 20 mile out and back trail offers beautiful views of Clear Creek Canyon.Beaver Brook is one of the area’s premier class I brook and brown trout streams, fed along its course by 10 spring ponds and many bank seeps. Beaver Brook flows into the Yellow River on the north end of the property. The mouth of Beaver Brook and a section of Randall Creek are also part of the Beaver Brook property.
What is the history of Beaver Lake?
Beaver lake was formed in 1966 after the Beaver Dam was built across the White River. Following the lake’s formation, the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers began construction recreation facilities, paving roads and establishing parks throughout the surrounding shorelines. Beaver Lake was included in the comprehensive plan for flood control and other purposes in the White River Basin by the Flood Control Act of 1954. Construction began in 1960 and was completed in 1966.
