The name? It was a fusion of the street name South Molton Street, and the so-cool boutique Browns, owned by the original founder Caroline Burstein’s parents, and which was just along this very fashionable street… Products were literally made on the kitchen table, originally, in a 16th Century cottage in Hertfordshire. Creative Director. Caroline Burstein founded Molton Brown with her then-husband–renowned hairdresser Michael Collis–in 1970. The business launched in London, on South Molton Street, in close proximities to her parents’ fashion retailer, Browns, then only a year old.Molton Brown is a British fragrance brand founded in 1971 by Caroline Burstein and Michael Collis.
