I think a trip to York doesn’t have to blow the budget. York is a small, picturesque and charming city that is brimming with history and lots of things to do. It is a top-rated UK destination for good reason and thanks to its compact size, is perfect for a weekend away.Getting around York York is not large and it’s best to get around by foot. I did nearly 30k steps in my 29 hours in the city! We stayed overnight at the Moxy hotel on the other side of the city from the station, and a cab ride was only £5 when we didn’t want to make the 20 minute walk back with the suitcase.The areas around the city center such as the center itself, Micklegate, and Heworth are great places to stay in York for tourists as there’s so much to see and do nearby.Midtown is the best place to stay if it’s your first time in New York, you want to see as many sights as possible in a short time, and you’d like to avoid long travel times. This part of town is perfect for about 90% of New York visitors.
