Where should my dog sleep in a hotel?
Note: Most hotels have designated or limited pet rooms. Calling ahead ensures you reserve the right room. If you can request a specific room location, you may want the ground floor or the room closest to the elevator or stairs. The ground floor is especially helpful for older dogs with mobility issues or puppies. Inform the staff during check-in that you’ve brought a pet. Some properties have specific pet-friendly rooms set aside, and others have special amenities for pets. Keep your dog on a leash while inside the hotel.
Can I leave my dog in a hotel room?
It largely depends on your dog and the hotel. Some won’t allow you to leave your dog alone in the room at all, whereas others might ask you to leave them in a crate to protect cleaning/room staff, guard against escapes, and prevent them causing damage or going to the toilet in the room. For people without dogs or with allergies, the thought of one on the furniture might lead them to stay elsewhere. However, this doesn’t mean there’s a blanket ban on dogs in hotel beds either. While some places will specifically state that dogs aren’t allowed on beds, others won’t mention it in their pet policy.
