Some 13 years later, in 1879, the man who would later be known as Lord Beaverbrook, Max Aitken, was born in Ontario, Canada.In 1935, the stores were renamed Beaverbrooks, starting with the company’s premises on Oxford Street, Manchester. The name was chosen in honour of Lord Beaverbrook, a public figure whose name was synonymous with honesty and integrity.
