An old cowshed might seem an unlikely place for a spa and range of natural products to be born, but the original Cowshed spa was created at Babington House as a retreat within a retreat, extending the hospitality of the House into wellness and wellbeing for guests.Cowshed is the perfect place to indulge in some pre or post pregnancy pampering with our specialised products and treatments. These treatments are designed for clients that are 12 weeks pregnant or more, no treatments can be given in the first trimester.

Is Cowshed organic?
Organic, wild-crafted and fair trade botanicals are sourced from around the world. Every product contains a high ratio of essential oils; their therapeutic benefits enhance mind and body well being. With the exception of organic beeswax and wildflower honey there are no animal ingredients in cowshed products. Organic milk is more expensive because it costs the farmer more to produce it. Fewer cows can be farmed per hectare of organic land and the volume of milk each organic cow produces, is at a lower, more natural, level.Organic guarantees milk and other dairy products comes from grass-fed, free-range cows. Soil Association’s Organic standards and certification process puts animal welfare at its centre.
When did Cowshed start?
Cowshed started with a simple mission: to inject a little country calm into people’s busy lives. The very first Cowshed spa opened alongside Babington House in Somerset in 1998. The brand’s story started in the Walled Garden, which is where the ingredients of its essential oil blends were grown. Soho House founder Nick Jones created the original Cowshed spa at Babington House as a retreat within a retreat, extending the hospitality of the House into wellness and wellbeing for guests.Inspired by our original Cowshed Spa at Babington House in Somerset, we offer restorative treatments in a sociable space where you can relax and unwind.
How many Cowshed spas are there in the UK?
Today there are 14 global Cowshed spas, including the six in the UK (the others being a standalone in Primrose Hill, London, and those located within the capital’s Shoreditch House and The Ned, Oxfordshire’s Soho Farmhouse, and Cornwall’s St Moritz Hotel).
