What’s the difference between a spa and a day spa?
Pampering is the primary goal of day spas, including here at Unique Day Spa. Traditional spas usually sit within a hotel or larger spa complex which offers overnight stays as part of the package and med spas are primarily used for the health of the body, such as the skin. Here are the most common spa services: Massages – relax tight muscles, reduce stress, and make you feel lighter. Facials – cleanse and refresh your face, leaving your skin glowing. Body scrubs – remove dead skin and make your whole body feel smooth. The most common spa treatments are massages, manicures/pedicures and facials. However, you might also see offered such treatments as a body scrub/exfoliation, a fingers or toes file & polish (like a mini manicure or pedicure) or a scalp massage. For most spa treatments, you can keep on your swimming costume or underwear. If you are having a back massage, you can wear knickers. Some treatments, such as Reiki and shiatsu, are done through your clothes. What are the most popular spa treatments? Popular choices vary by goal, but frequently booked services include oxygen facials to refresh and brighten skin, beer bath hydrotherapy for full-body relaxation, and infrared sauna sessions to encourage deep sweating. Massages and body wraps are also widely requested.
Do you wear make-up to a spa?
You definitely do not need to wear makeup to the spa. In fact, we recommend you take this opportunity to let your skin breathe and your natural beauty shine through! It is best to not wear makeup in the facilities, so we recommend you remove it beforehand. Should I shave before my spa service(s)? We recommend allowing several hours between shaving and receiving any service that involves an exfoliation (body services, scrubs, facial) to decrease the risk of skin irritation or discomfort.Showering before spa treatments is often recommended as a courtesy to both yourself and the spa staff. Taking a quick shower will ensure your skin is completely clean, removing any lotions, oils or perfumes that you may have applied before your visit.
What does a woman wear to a spa day?
This depends upon which treatments you have booked and the facilities you will be using. In general, you should wear swimwear or underwear underneath a robe. It’s up to you. Women usually remove their bras to allow the massage therapist to work on the back and shoulder area without getting massage oil or lotion on the bra. If your problem area is your low back, hips, buttocks, or groin, tight-fitting or large underwear can sometimes get in the way of massage work.Wear as much or as little clothing as you’d like during the massage. When it’s time for your appointment, feel free to take off some, all, or none of your clothing. Most people dress down to their underwear for the first time, while others are completely fine being naked under the massage blanket. For massages and body treatments, ideally you disrobe completely (that means underwear, too). Most spas offer paper panties to wear during body treatments (like scrubs, wraps, or self-tanning)—they don’t cover much, but enough to provide a modicum of modesty. If it’s comfortable, most people remove all their clothes except underwear or swimwear. These clothes should fit well and not restrict movement during the session. Your therapist may remove some clothing depending on the massage technique.
