What is the dress code at Stobo Castle?
We have a very informal dress code at Stobo. Most of our guest choose to relax in our fluffy, white bathrobes throughout the day, however we do request that guests dress for dinner. Training shoes and suitable clothing must be worn in the gym and exercise studio and swimwear is required for the wet facilities. Informal dining options at Stobo means that most people choose to eat a relaxed lunch in-between treatments during the day. Does Stobo Castle have triple rooms?
Accommodation is available in two spacious triple rooms, each with two double beds and one single bed and three twin-bedded rooms, each with two double beds, and all with en-suite bathrooms. Triple room means a space capable of housing 3 people. Seen in 4 SEC filings. Triple room means a place with enough area to provide sleeping arrangements for three people simultaneously, featuring a double bed along with a single bed or alternatively, one double bed plus three single beds or even five single beds.Saying sleeps 3 means the room is capable of accommodating 3 people, does not necessarily mean can walk in and sleep 3. Typically, to sleep 3 they will put another bed in the room.Simply put, a triple room is a room that can accommodate up to three people. Often ranging between 18 and 24 square meters, this type of room can be equipped with three single beds measuring 85 x 200 cm or one double bed for two people and a single bed for one person.
What is Stobo Castle famous for?
Stobo Castle is the seat of the barony of Stobo, a feudal lordship that was created in 1577 with origins dating back to the twelfth century. In 1650 (together with Dawyck House) Stobo estate was the first in Scotland to introduce the non-native species of horse chestnut. The Murray family resided at the principle farm, Hillhouse, where the castle now stands. The names Stobo and Hillhouse seem to be interchangeable, as during the 18th century the property appears on maps variously as Hillhouse, Stobo and Stobo House.
What should I bring to Stobo Castle?

Our guided walks take place in all weathers and suitable footwear and outdoor clothing should be worn. We provide bathrobes, towels and hairdryers. Visitors are expected to cover up using a robe/dressing gown between treatments and when in the spa’s public areas and must wear swimwear while enjoying the venue’s Jacuzzi and steam room facilities.Most spas want you to be comfortable and relaxed, so arrive wearing loose, comfortable clothing like gym clothes, yoga pants and t-shirts. Once you are changed, you’ll be spending most of your time in a robe anyway!This depends on what treatments you have booked and the facilities you would like to use. In general, you should wear either swimwear or underwear.
