What is Champneys about?
Champneys is the brand name of a destination spa group, comprising four spa resorts, two hotels and two day spas owned by the purdew family. Named after the spa in tring, hertfordshire, which opened in 1925, the first spa in the group was in fact henlow grange, followed by forest mere and springs. Alan whiteley, based in united kingdom, is currently a chief executive officer at champneys health resorts.Founded on the philosophy that health, beauty and wellbeing are inextricably intertwined, Champneys has been a leader of the destination spa scene not only in the UK but across the world for more than 90 years.We spoke with Alan Whiteley, CEO of Champneys, and group spa director Laura Sheridan to find out how they plan to develop the brand and what’s the next in its evolution.
What age for Champneys?
No children under the age of 16 are allowed at Champneys Resorts. Any visitors aged 16 or 17 must be accompanied by an adult at all times at any of our locations. Is there a minimum age requirement to visit Champneys spas? Guests must be 16+ to visit the four Champneys resorts, which are purely focused on providing adult-only wellness escapes. The two Champneys spa hotels, Eastwell Manor and Mottram Hall, allow children of any age to stay in a room with an adult.
Where were the original Champneys?
Named after the spa in Tring, Hertfordshire, which opened in 1925, the first spa in the group was in fact Henlow Grange, followed by Forest Mere and Springs. It was only when Tring was acquired that the group of spa resorts combined under the Champneys brand name. Champneys Tring in the rolling Hertfordshire hills has been pioneering and perfecting health and wellbeing treatments since 1925. Close enough to London to be reachable, but far enough away to be peaceful, it’s full of modern and traditional treatments, as well as the unique Marine and Wellness Spa.
