What is a private bath at a spa?
A spa bath is a spa treatment that usually takes place in a private treatment room, and will be just for you, or for you and your partner. The most common spa treatments are massages, manicures/pedicures and facials. However, you might also see offered such treatments as a body scrub/exfoliation, a fingers or toes file & polish (like a mini manicure or pedicure) or a scalp massage.Spa Treatments Offer More than Pampering Deep tissue and sports massage for quick and steady muscle recovery. Custom facials for thicker, oil-prone or shaving-sensitive skin. Scalp and back treatments that target often-neglected areas. Infrared sauna sessions for detox and circulation.Body treatments may include sauna, whirlpool, jet bath, steam room, massage, mud bath, salt scrub, seaweed body wraps, clay or herbal body masks, reflexology and waxing. Day spas also usually offer nail services, such as manicures, pedicures and paraffin treatments.Depending on the facility, you can expect to enjoy services like massage, facials, hydrotherapy, and other restorative body treatments. There may be a steam room, sauna, or pool that are also available for use during your visit. Day spas are geared toward comfort, and every need will be addressed while you are there.A spa date is romantic as well as relaxing. The pampering of massages, facials, saunas and pools help you connect more intimately as a couple. You are refreshed personally and also get a boost of energy. You both get an entire day off in the lap of luxury, almost like a tiny dream holiday.
Do you shower after a spa day?
After a massage, your body is in a state of relaxation and recovery, and the massage oils applied to your skin continue to nourish it. Taking a hot bath immediately could strip away these benefits. Generally, it’s recommended to wait at least two to three hours after a massage before taking a bath. While you can shower after a massage, waiting at least 2-3 hours allows your body to fully benefit from the oils. You can take a lukewarm shower (skip the hot water) a few hours after the massage. Remember to use a gentle cleanser to rinse off any excess oil, but stay away from harsh soaps and scrubbing. After a massage, it is important to drink plenty of water, eat healthy foods, and get plenty of rest. You should also avoid smoking, drinking caffeine, working out, and taking hot baths or showers. If you have any questions about what to do or not do after a massage, please ask your massage therapist. This small gesture shows respect for other guests who are there to unwind. Shower Before Treatments Taking a quick shower before your treatment helps cleanse your skin and open up your pores, making treatments like massages and facials more effective.

Should I shave before going to a spa?
Should I shave before my spa service(s)? We recommend allowing several hours between shaving and receiving any service that involves an exfoliation (body services, scrubs, facial) to decrease the risk of skin irritation or discomfort. What if I have a hairy back? It definitely does not bother your massage therapist. Some clients have mentioned that they prefer NO OIL OR CREAM on their back. If this is the case, we can modify our technique and work on your back without oil or cream. It makes no difference to us, and it will not affect your massage said Kurt, LMT at Williamsburg. If you’re comfortable not shaving, we’re comfortable as well. Trust us on this one: massage therapists are not considering your body hair during a session.
