The Spa Lodges each have a steam room, rain maker shower, free standing oval stone bath, outdoor sauna and hydrotherapy hot tub surrounded by a walled garden – and wonderful views over the gardens to the Lake District moors. Guests booking treatments have access to our spa amenities for three hours at no additional charge. Our amenities include the quintessential Roman Baths, cedarwood sauna, herbal steam room and arctic ice room.
What is the history of the Gilpin Hotel?
The Gilpin is one of these. Owned and run by the Cunliffe family the property has been in the family since the turn of the last century. In 1987 John and Christine Cunliffe bought John’s grandmother’s home and created a five-bedroom hotel. Gilpin owner John Cunliffe dies aged 76. Hotelier John Cunliffe, co-owner of the Gilpin Hotel & Lake House in Windermere, has died aged 76. Cunliffe passed away late last week at the hotel with his immediate family.Windermere, Cumbria Now in the fifth generation of ownership by the Cunliffe family, the Gilpin comprises two hotels run by one close-knit team.
