It is truly atmospheric and amazing and has a great undercroft museum too which explains the history of the site, the Roman fort etc. I always think the Treasurer’s House nearby is worth a visit too. Or if the weather is good, just walk the walls! A must-visit if you’re in York and have an interest in history or everyday life through the ages.If there’s one place you must visit on your trip to York, it’s the famous Shambles. It’s a street steeped in history that parents will love, but there are also plenty of magical reasons that children will adore it too.A must-visit if you’re in York and have an interest in history or everyday life through the ages.A piece of respectfully preserved history. Although it is small, it’s well worth a visit. Really enjoyed reading the plaques with all the history on as well as the amazing views across York. The way it has been maintained and preserved has been very respectfully done.
