Does York have nightlife?
The best nightlife in York mostly takes the form of traditional-style English pubs, many of which genuinely have hundreds of years of history. While the city isn’t known as one of the world’s liveliest nightlife destinations, it has a generally friendly atmosphere. At first glance accommodation is not cheap but York has many B&Bs, hostels and low cost hotels for budget travelers. York restaurants do however offer many exciting treats that won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Don’t forget York is famed for its festivals that each offer many free activities, shows, parades and events.

Is York a walkable city?
York is a very walkable city with all the popular attractions in close proximity, a stroll down the cobbled streets, a wander down the river and a walk around the Ings makes for a really enjoyable experience. In general police, security staff and Street Angels do an excellent job in York and are always very visible. The city centre is very well lit. Though you will see anti-social behaviour (this will always be the case it night time economies) I never feel unsafe in York.
