What happened to the Riviera in Palm Springs?
The Riviera was closed from 2006 to 2008, allowing for a $70 million renovation. It closed again in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, and was rebranded by the end of the year as a Margaritaville resort, becoming the chain’s first location on the U. S. This was due to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority’s plans to use the property for the expansion of the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Riviera was built on a 26-acre land and had over 2000 rooms. The Hotel was finally closed in May 2015 after 60 years of business.The agency had plans to demolish the resort for a major expansion of its nearby Las Vegas Convention Center.
