Do you wear a bra under a robe at spa?
For a facial, take off your bra (or at least lower the straps) before you slip into a robe, so it doesn’t interfere with the neck and shoulder massage. It’s best to wear loose-fitting, dark clothes to the spa, as you might be covered in oils and creams when leaving. Most spas will provide you with a robe, towel, disposable underwear, and slippers or slops – however, they should communicate any clothing that you need to bring with you such as swimwear.Loose and Comfortable Fabrics Fabrics that are soft to the touch, such as cotton, linen, or bamboo, are ideal; these materials ensure your body can move freely and don’t restrict the therapist’s access if you choose to wear clothing during your massage.For massages and body treatments, ideally you disrobe completely (that means underwear, too). Most spas offer paper panties to wear during body treatments (like scrubs, wraps, or self-tanning)—they don’t cover much, but enough to provide a modicum of modesty.Wear as much or as little clothing as you’d like during the massage. When it’s time for your appointment, feel free to take off some, all, or none of your clothing. Most people dress down to their underwear for the first time, while others are completely fine being naked under the massage blanket.
What do men wear in a spa?
Most spas want you to be comfortable and relaxed, so arrive wearing loose, comfortable clothing like gym clothes, yoga pants and t-shirts. Once you are changed, you’ll be spending most of your time in a robe anyway! Hygiene & Dress Code Bathing suits must be worn throughout the Spa Village. Sandals are required at all times, except in the saunas, where you must remove them. Bathrobes are worn at your discretion, except in restaurants, where you must cover your shoulders.For private hot tubs, wear comfortable and functional swimwear of your choice. Public and communal spas often require swimwear that aligns with hygiene guidelines—this means no non-swimwear clothing or heavily decorated garments.To enter the spa and sauna on gender segregated floors, we ask that no clothing be worn. Bathing suits are not allowed in the spas. Please shower prior to entering the spas. Most guests wrap themselves in the towels provided.
Do I wear a bra to the spa?
It’s up to you. Women usually remove their bras to allow the massage therapist to work on the back and shoulder area without getting massage oil or lotion on the bra. If your problem area is your low back, hips, buttocks, or groin, tight-fitting or large underwear can sometimes get in the way of massage work. A full-body massage may include massaging your back, hips (including the sides of your buttocks), and the back of your legs, but not your private parts. Most spas will keep your private areas well covered to preserve your decency.
