Are hotel spas free for guests?
Many hotels offer enticing spa facilities, but whether they’re complimentary can depend on a number of factors. Some luxury hotels might include spa access as part of the room rate, especially if the spa is a major highlight of the property. However, treatments like massages or facials might still come at a cost. Most people dress down to their underwear for the first time, while others are completely fine being naked under the massage blanket. A massage is all about your comfort, so do what feels right for you and your body. Rest assured that your massage therapist will keep your body covered up the entire time.A full-body massage may include massaging your back, hips (including the sides of your buttocks), and the back of your legs, but not your private parts. Most spas will keep your private areas well covered to preserve your decency.Spa services are designed to relax, rejuvenate, and heal the mind and body. They range from massages and facials to body wraps and therapies that enhance circulation, detoxify the body, or nourish the skin. But spa services aren’t just about indulgence—they are deeply rooted in wellness. For massages and body treatments, ideally you disrobe completely (that means underwear, too). Most spas offer paper panties to wear during body treatments (like scrubs, wraps, or self-tanning)—they don’t cover much, but enough to provide a modicum of modesty. If it’s comfortable, most people remove all their clothes except underwear or swimwear. These clothes should fit well and not restrict movement during the session. Your therapist may remove some clothing depending on the massage technique.
What happens in a hotel spa?
The most common spa treatments are massages, manicures/pedicures and facials. However, you might also see offered such treatments as a body scrub/exfoliation, a fingers or toes file & polish (like a mini manicure or pedicure) or a scalp massage. Typically, a couple’s spa package will include two spa treatments or services that the couple can enjoy together, such as a couples massage or a couples’ facial. These treatments are often performed in a private room or suite that is designed for two people, with side-by-side massage tables or chairs.
What exactly happens at a spa?
As the name suggests, a spa day is a day (or half-day) of relaxing and enjoyment. Everyone will have their own style of relaxation, their own preferences and their own needs. For some it will simply be about lounging in a hot tub or sauna. For others it will involve a full body massage, head massage or both. Nobody else will ever be using any area of the spa during your spa time. All areas of the spa including the spa garden are completely private for you and not overlooked. This includes the changing area, swimming pool, thermal spa area, spa garden, relaxation lounge and chillout lounge with refreshment area.
