Founded in 1925, we’ve been at the forefront of wellness since our inception, when we emerged as one of the first health resorts in the world. Stanley Lief founded Champneys in Tring which started life as a Nature Cure Resort and was the first of its kind in the UK. Champneys is the brand name of a destination spa group, comprising four spa resorts, two hotels and two day spas owned by the Purdew family. Named after the spa in Tring, Hertfordshire, which opened in 1925, the first spa in the group was in fact Henlow Grange, followed by Forest Mere and Springs.
