When to not visit Koh Samui?
While most of Thailand’s western islands like Phuket face monsoon season, Koh Samui tends to stay mostly sunny with calmer seas—making it one of the few family-friendly beach destinations in Thailand during the summer holidays. The only time we recommend avoiding is October and November, the rainiest months. The best time to go to Thailand is from November to February, when there’s sunny, dry weather that’s not too hot – though December gets very busy and correspondingly expensive around Christmas. If you don’t mind the occasional shower, we’d also recommend May and June.The rainiest months in Thailand are September and October, generally considered the least favorable time to visit. Heavy rainfall can cause flooding in cities like Bangkok and Chiang Mai, landslides in mountain areas, flight delays, and rough sea conditions along the Andaman Coast.
