Does Missoma use real pearls?

Does Missoma use real pearls?

Pearls. We use cultured freshwater pearls in a number of different shapes. Missoma pearls are naturally unique in their irregularity; imperfections are here to be celebrated. After the pearls are extracted from the oysters, one-third of oysters are “recycled” and put through the culturing process again. The others are killed and discarded. For those concerned about the environment, there is another reason to avoid pearls.

Is Missoma real gold?

Our main core collections are made by hand from 18ct gold vermeil, 18ct gold plating, 14ct solid gold, sterling silver, and silver plating. We never want to waste a scrap of precious metals which is why we craft from recycled metals. Each piece in our 14k collection is made with 94% recycled gold and 6% newly mined gold. By blending recycled and responsibly sourced gold, we reduce our environmental footprint while supporting local communities that rely on mining.
