Summer in Deep Creek is probably the best season for weather, with morning temperatures in the mid-high 50s, usually peaking in the low 80s. With low humidity, it’s a nice relief for most visitors traveling from much warmer and more humid cities. The latter months of summer are typically the most dry and consistent.
Are there bears in Deep Creek?
Since the bears in Deep Creek see people more often than those in more remote areas, they’re less afraid of noises and people. I spent years in Alaska and have had countless black and grizzly bear run ins and the single most effective deterrent I’ve ever used is a big black trash bag. For a curious bear, it will scare the heck out of them. As you shake it to open it, the noise is effective, and fully open, you look quite intimidating.

A nominal entrance fee applies to visitors of Deep Creek Lake State Park.
