Do you have to shower before a spa?

Yes, it’s courteous to shower before arriving, especially if you’ve been sweating or have applied lotions and perfumes. This ensures a more pleasant experience for both you and the therapist. Taking a shower or bath at this time can potentially lead to skin damage or inflammation. So the answers here are to avoid showering and bathing for a few hours both before AND after a massage, cupping, or spa-type session.

Do you take everything off at a spa?

For massages and body treatments, ideally you disrobe completely (that means underwear, too). Most spas offer paper panties to wear during body treatments (like scrubs, wraps, or self-tanning)—they don’t cover much, but enough to provide a modicum of modesty. Spas want their guests to be as comfortable as possible, so if you would prefer to arrive in non-restrictive garments, such as gym wear or lounge wear then that will be absolutely fine. After this, you will change and spend most of your time in a robe anyway. Most spas provide robes, slippers, and towels, but it’s good practice to bring a swimsuit if you plan to use the sauna, steam room, or pool. Most spas want you to be comfortable and relaxed, so arrive wearing loose, comfortable clothing like gym clothes, yoga pants and t-shirts. What happens in a private spa?

Nobody else will ever be using any area of the spa during your spa time. All areas of the spa including the spa garden are completely private for you and not overlooked. This includes the changing area, swimming pool, thermal spa area, spa garden, relaxation lounge and chillout lounge with refreshment area. These are private rooms in which you can enjoy a selection of pampering spa treatments, such as massages and facials. Many of our spa packages feature treatments, which will take place in one of these rooms.

What is a private bath at a spa?

A spa bath is a spa treatment that usually takes place in a private treatment room, and will be just for you, or for you and your partner. The bathing experience will certainly feel more luxurious than your one at home. The most common spa treatments are massages, manicures/pedicures and facials. However, you might also see offered such treatments as a body scrub/exfoliation, a fingers or toes file & polish (like a mini manicure or pedicure) or a scalp massage.
