Stanley Lief founded Champneys in Tring which started life as a Nature Cure Resort and was the first of its kind in the UK. We initially opened as a health farm (now Champneys Tring) and were the first of our kind in the UK. Pioneering the concept of holistic health and naturopathy, the reputation of Lief’s resort grew, with patients visiting from far and wide. Named after the spa in tring, hertfordshire, which opened in 1925, the first spa in the group was in fact henlow grange, followed by forest mere near liphook and springs. It was only when tring was acquired that the group of spa resorts combined under the champneys brand name.Since then, I’ve been to Champneys many times: Springs in Leicester (the original – for me), Tring, and, my absolute favourite: Henlow. You simply can’t better the approach to Champneys Henlow. Is Champneys in financial trouble?
Celebrity luxury spa group Champneys slipped further into the red despite its turnover edging closer to a milestone, it has been revealed. The group, which has several sites across the country and was founded 100 years ago, has posted a pre-tax loss of £8. April, 2024. However, the new results also show that Champneys increased its turnover during its latest financial year from £56. During the year the number of guests the group’s sites welcomed increased from 273,444 to 277,602. However the revenue per guest dipped slightly from £204 to £202.
